Wine On the Go

Wine Apps for your phone

It seems these days there is an App for everything. However, this phenomenon seemed to fall short when it came to the wine industry, until recently. Now you can take your wine with you wherever you go, with these fantastic apps for both your iPhone, or your Android phone.

iPhone
Hello Vino. Provides suggestions for wine and food pairing in a clean interface. Free.
Wine Enthusiast Guide. Made by the esteemed wine magazine, the app aggregates the 68,000+ reviews they’ve published over the years. If you’re into the critics, a good bet. $4.99.
Wine Snob. Similar to the other apps but adds input from sommeliers and winemakers to give it a more professional touch. $5.99.

Android
Swirl. Aggregates Snooth content including catalogue of 100,000+ wines, community reviews and pairing suggestions. Free.
Wine+. Track tasting notes and cellar inventory with this straightforward looking app. $1.99.

World’s largest wine bottle!

The 15ft high bottle contains an astonishing 1,850 litres of wine, produced by Wang Chen Wines in Liaoning, northern China. That’s over three times the amount held by the previous record-holders, Austrian winemakers Kracher, whose bottle held 490 litres of Grande Cuvee TBA NV No.7 2005.

‘We are very proud, and the wine is very good. We have all had a glass from the bottle to celebrate,’ said a company spokesman.

Anyone thirsty?
